Elks Lodge 461 by invitation from Bernalillo County Commissioner Adriann Barboa attended a concert at the Veterans Memorial Amphitheater called Flamenco in the Neighborhood. The performances were fantastic, one of the performing groups was from UNM.

Today the Lodge celebrated Flag Day! It is always good to gather and be reminded the history of the flag and why we salute it!
Lodge 461 and Rio Rancho Lodge 2500 put on a barbecue for the Spinal Cord Unit at the Raymond G. Murphy Medical Center (VA Hospital) this afternoon.
Cooking was Chuck Zobac from Santa Fe, a board member of Honor Flight Northern New Mexico. Also present was a representative from Fisher House talking with the Veterans.
Represented was also Al Samura, District Veterans Commission Chair and Elks Lodge 461 Wendy Villasenor, Veterans Committee, who is presently serving in the Army.
The Veterans were all outside enjoying a picnic in the shade!
This is the first time anyone has been allowed back into the Hospital since the Covid and all were excited and could not thank the Elks enough!
Thank you ENF – today Brother Charles received $2500. to help the center succeed. What a wonderful hour visiting with him and touring the facility and meeting all the men helping to feed the homeless while healing their own selves!
Brother Charles said the Elks have been good to the Brothers of the Good Shepherd and thanks the Elks for our continued support!

What a moving experience observing and listening to Bill Sparks work his magic during his creative healing with words writing workshop for Veterans.
Bill Sparks was very inspirational as he talked with the Veterans and he himself being a Veteran. Best example of a veteran helping other veterans to deal with their own needs by the power of their own written words.
A big shout out to NMEA- Veterans for helping our Lodge to help a veteran with required shoes and clothes for a new job. This small act of kindness overwhelmed our veteran. It’s a beginning of a new chapter in his life.
El Paso Lodge had a fun time while hosting a Drug Awareness Prevention Program for military youth at STAR Children and Adolescent Kids at Risk Program at Rio Vista BH. Elroy came along and visited with the children and each child received a gift.
El Paso Lodge 187 donated 100 US flags on poles to Ft. Bliss young Marines.
Los Ninos Elementary School (K-3) enjoying their Field Day with the help from Elks who donated popcorn and snow cones to 296 children.
Members, Schools, businesses and the Community pulled to together to donate to the Fire Relief.
Gloves, talc powder and snacks were also delivered to the firefighters.
Elk’s sorting and boxing items to go to our friends in need in Las Vegas and Ruidoso, NM.
Families also will be receiving items here in ABQ that are being hosted in Hotels by Safe Space NM a nonprofit.
