What a wonderful visit by our Vice President, Brenda Ferri! The Elks were so happy that she could attend our Luau which is a fundraiser for our Community of Youth!
Also a wonderful surprise was to have with us Jacob Fritchie, whom I met in Minneapolis at the GL Convention. He is one of our National Elks Most Valuable Student Winners who was interning at Sandia National Labs. Jacob spent a lot of time talking to people and lending a hand where ever needed. What a shining example of our future. Jacob is now getting ready to go to University of Illinois to start his PHD in Nuclear Engineering.
Thank you, Elks National Veterans Service Commission, for helping us turn a house into a home for a Veteran Grandfather that has taken legal custody of his 5 grandchildren, a veteran father with his son, and another veteran. A big shout-out to Elizabeth Ruiz from VFW Auxiliary 8782 for helping us today!

Flag Day at Albuquerque Elks Lodge #461 on June 17th.
Lodge #461 presented a Flag Day presentation starting with a history of the Flag as the years passed after our founding.
The Lodge had members and friends bring in old flags for proper disposal. Members of the Neptune Society, a cremation service, attended the event. They accepted our old flags to be placed with veterans who had passed and are to be cremated.
To finish the event a demonstration of the proper folding of our flag was done by several Lodge members.
Honored guests were the members of our Local Fire Department, who unfortunately had to leave due to a call.
Thank you to all members who did a fantastic job of celebrating the history of our Flag!
